She once envisioned herself as a film director, yet destiny led her to the path of an editor.
Her initial foray into the world of filmmaking was under the guidance of the remarkable editor Katarzyna Maciejko-Kowalczyk, where she served as an assistant on Paweł Łoziński’s „Chemia” and Beata Dzianowicz’s „Latawce” / „Kites”.
Their collaboration was abruptly halted by the untimely passing of Katarzyna Maciejko-Kowalczyk. Undeterred, Beata took up the mantle and saw through the editing of „Las” / „The Forest,” helmed by Piotr Dumała.
Beata collaborated with numerous independent filmmakers, contributing her editing expertise to works by Piotr Dumała, Anka and Wilhelm Sasnal, Adam Sikora, Agnieszka Polska, and Tomasz Wasilewski.
„Zjednoczone Stany Miłości” / „United States of Love,” directed by Tomasz Wasilewski and meticulously edited by Beata Walentowska, garnered acclaim at numerous festivals. It clinched the Silver Bear for Best Screenplay at the Berlin International Film Festival and earned a nomination for the European Film Awards in the screenplay category.
„United States of Love” garnered Beata individual accolades, including a nomination at the Polish Eagle (Polish Film Award) for Best Editing, as well as the Award for Editing at the Polish Feature Film Festival in Gdynia.
She serves as co-editor for Netflix productions „Brokat” / „Glitter” and „Infamia”, as well as the Viaplay series „Udar” / „The Stroke”.
If her journey had veered in a different direction, she might have cared for elephants, tended to chickens, or dwelled in the heart of the forest, studying its flora. Besides, she holds a deep fondness for dogs.
